Dear [REDACTED]

At the present time, there is no official reward being offered for finding either"Mr. D. B. Cooper" or the ransom money. However, the insurance company which has reimbursed Northwest Airlines for their loss in this matter, does, on an individual basis, negotiate rewards on a C.O.D. basis only.

In view of the fact that this is a pending FBI investigation, no confidential information can be released to you to aid in your locating either Cooper or the ran- som money by the use of [REDACTED]

It is suggested if you have any further questions, or information, that you contact the FBI Resident Agency in your area. This agency would be listed near the front of your telephone directory. The headquarters for your area is in Sacramento, California.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in this matter, and wish you the best of luck in your efforts to locate either Cooper or the ransom money.

Very truly yours,

John M. Reed Special Agent in Charge
