Youth who found D.B. Cooper loot might keep half

PORTLAND The youngster who found some of hijacker D.B. Cooper's loot on a Columbia River beach six years ago would get to keep almost half of the cash under an agreement worked out by the four parties claiming a share of the money. But he'll have to return the $500 reward he received from Northwest Orient Airlines when he found the money. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Collins said the proposed judg- ment was submitted to his office, yesterday, by representatives of the parties involved. Tuesday was the deadline for submitting claims on the $5,800 in decaying $20 bills found by Brian Ingram on a Columbia River beach in Vancouver, Wash. The parties who filed claims on the money were Ingram and his parents, Northwest Orient, the FBI and the airline's insurance company, Globe Indemnity Co. Ingram, who was 8 years old when he found the money, and Globe Indemnity would split the remaining $5,520 equally, although Ingram would have to return the $500 he received for finding the cash. Ingram and his parents live in El Reno, Okla. His mother, Patri- cia, has said the family is consid- ering selling pieces of the money as souvenirs.
