ACTION TAKEN:

On 01-05-96 at 1300 hours, I was contacted by [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] at the Linn County Courthouse. [REDACTED] told me that he believes that he knows the identity of "D.B. Cooper" and asked to talk with me.

We then went into the interview room where I obtained a taped statement from [REDACTED] with [REDACTED] interjecting periodically with further information.

The taped statement consisted of [REDACTED] relating incidents in which a person known to him by the name of [REDACTED] [REDACTED] became involved in [REDACTED] life and since the "D.B. Cooper" incident, [REDACTED] has come to believe that this [REDACTED] individual may possibly be "D.B. Cooper".

Upon the conclusion of the taped interview, [REDACTED] stated that he has further information as to people connected with [REDACTED] if the FBI in interested in further investigating this matter.

The taped statement, photographs and cassette tape, will be forwarded to the Salem Office of the FBI for their information.

Case cleared.
