SUB. D - PARACHUTE INFORMATION

On May 29, 1973, [REDACTED], Seattle, Washington, advised while vacationing in the Mount St. Helens area last week, he observed a parachute hanging from a tree approximately 75 feet in the air. [REDACTED] stated the parachute was frayed and had moss on it; it ap- peared to have been there for some time. [REDACTED] described the parachute canopy as orange and white in color and he thought the parachute had white shroud lines.

[REDACTED] stated the parachute was located near Mt. St. Margaret in the Green River area. Near the tree was a package of food similar to that type used by servicemen on survival trips.

[REDACTED] stated he observed no harness on the para- chute and there appeared to be a small container hanging from the canopy.

In view of the fact that the Norjak parachute was not orange and white in color and in view of the fact that several weather balloons parachutes have been spotted in this area and they are orange and white in color, no further investigation will be conducted concerning this reported incident.

ARMED AND DANGEROUS.
