William D. He faces up to 24 years in fed- eral prison when sentenced with- in a month. Cooper pleaded guilty yesterday three indictments before U.S. strict Judge Joseph Alsop in St. aul. He admitted smuggling marijuana across the Mexican bor- der, flying some of it across him- self. Subsequently, the marijuana was transported to the Twin Cities, mostly by automobile. He also pleaded guilty to taking more than $100,000 into Mexico without reporting it to customs officers and to buying two revolv- ers, illegal for a convicted felon. Last week, he pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Miles ord to being involved in the Jan 22, 1974, robbery of the Sturgeon Lake (Minn.) State Bank. Three others have been charged in that crime. None of the $4,960 taken in the robbery was recovered. Cooper and a son are owner-op- erators of a hunting and fishing lodge in northwest Canada.
