OPTIONAL FORM NO. 10 MAY 1962 EDITION GSA FPMR (41 CFR) 101-11.6 UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT Memorandum

TO : SA NORMAN B. BELFREY DATE: 12/21/71

FROM : SAC J. L. MATTSON

SUBJECT: NORJAK

---

Seattle Office has set out lead for Portland to contact local newspapers to (1) inquire whether a printing of the total ransom list in this case would be possible; and/or (2) a special feature story publicizing the existence of ransom list, its possession by law enforce- ment agencies, banks and other institutions throughout the State and in general advising that checking of questionable $20 bills against the list is invited.

The Oregonian and Oregon Journal [REDACTED] [REDACTED] advised they cannot print the entire list due to the cost; however, they are very glad to run an appropriate feature story and one is being prepared for an early edition.

SA BELFREY is requested to appropriately report this to Seattle by teletype.
