FROM: SAC, PORTLAND (164-41) (P)

SUBJECT: NORJAK (OO: Seattle)

RE: TED MAYFIELD SUSPECT #3

Re Seattle airtel to Portland 5/21/73.

For information of Seattle and San Francisco, TED MAYFIELD, former world's champion parachutist, and former head of the Portland Parachute Club, contacted the Portland Office, telephonically at approximately 9 p.m., 11/24/71. MAYFIELD, who is known to SA RALPH P. HIMMELSBACH, talked with SA HIMMELSBACH, Portland NORJAK Case Agent, to volunteer his services and assistance, noting that he is a leading authority on parachuting in this area.

Portland Office has been in contact with MAYFIELD on several subsequent occasions, concerning this matter.

Note that MAYFIELD, although having armed robbery background, does not fit description of UNSUB in this matter.

In view of the above information, MAYFIELD is considered eliminated as a suspect in this matter, and no further investigation concerning him appears necessary.
