Enclosed for Seattle Division is one copy of an FD-302 reflecting the interview of [REDACTED] Anchorage, Alaska, in which [REDACTED] furnished a suspect, DOUGLAS GIBSON BURNS, FBI No. 136659B. Also enclosed is a photograph of BURNS.

---

For the information of Seattle Division, BURNS was the subject of an investigation by the San Francisco Division, entitled "DOUGLAS GIBSON BURNS, Bank of America, NT & SA, Marina Branch, San Francisco, Calif.; 8/12/69; BR." BURNS was acquitted 7/29/70 by jury trial. The San Francisco Division file number is 91-7589 and the Portland Division file number is 91-2425.

---

Further, BURNS was the subject of Fugitive Bank Robber Memorandum #35, dated 3/7/69 with reference to the above- mentioned San Francisco bank robbery.

---

The following additional investigation was conducted by SA [REDACTED] at Anchorage, Alaska:

---

Initiation of investigation in this matter was predi- cated upon receipt of information from [REDACTED] Anchorage, Alaska Police Department, who advised on 5/7/73 that [REDACTED] informed him that DOUGLAS GIBSON BURNS might be identical to the hijacker of the Northwest Airlines aircraft of about two years ago in the Seattle, Washington area.

---

On 5/18/73, [REDACTED] Alaska State Troopers, Anchorage, advised that DOUGLAS GIBSON BURNS, FBI No. 136659B, was returned to Anchorage following his acquittal on bank robbery charges in San Francisco, California, in July, 1970. BURNS had been indicted by the State of Alaska for the 1st degree

[REDACTED] Alaska, in 1965. He stated that [REDACTED] was the most [REDACTED] and the case collapsed. BURNS was released from the Anchorage State Jail on 5/17/71 and immediately left Alaska to return to the Portland, Oregon area.

He advised he cannot locate at the moment his reports on the investigation, which would reflect the address of BURNS' father and BURNS' residence in Oregon, but he noted that the Portland Division of the FBI assisted him in his State case and that office will probably have the most current address for BURNS.

[REDACTED] made available a photograph of BURNS taken while BURNS was in confinement in Alaska. [REDACTED] noted the photograph depicts BURNS with a full beard, which, [REDACTED] advised, BURNS grew in the Anchorage jail. He noted again that BURNS was arrested in 1969 on the bank robbery by the Portland Division of the FBI and that Division may be in possession of a photograph depicting BURNS clean-shaven.

[REDACTED] advised he does not know whether BURNS was ever a pilot and/or parachutist.

He described BURNS as being intelligent, confident and entirely capable of pulling off captioned matter.

AT SEATTLE, WASHINGTON. Will conduct investigation to determine if DOUGLAS GIBSON BURNS may be identical to UNSUB.

It is noted that since there is a possibility that DOUGLAS GIBSON BURNS may have already been investigated by Seattle Division for captioned matter, leads for Portland Division are being left to the discretion of Seattle Division.

CONSIDER UNSUB ARMED AND DANGEROUS.
