What does the scan show?
A person reads every report. Corrections are made by hand, to the data — titles, dates, names, which pages belong together — never to the scans, and they can take a while to appear.

On 4/27/72 I called SA [REDACTED] at the Bureau and told him that undoubtedly in view of the laboratory examination of the Xerox copies of the bills, showing that they were not the same as the bills shown in the microfilm of the ransom money, together with the other facts, we knew this was obviously a fraudulent scheme and it had nothing to do with the hijacking.
I advised him, however, that to be doubly sure we wer having the photograph of DONALD SYLVESTER MURPHY shown to the witnesses in Minneapolis and Portland, having already shown them to the Seattle witnesses, who have advised that he is not the hijacker.
---
In view of this, I suggested that we proceed now to develop a fraud by wire, or an ITSP case against the principal culprits, namely [REDACTED] and MURPHY, but in order to do this I felt before we instituted prosecution we should definitely establish whether FLEMING [REDACTED] [REDACTED] as FLEMING CLAIMS, or [REDACTED] [REDACTED] pointing out that the best evidence of this are [REDACTED]
---
I cannot see why NEWSWEEK would not now produce these. He advised that a memorandum was going to [REDACTED] [REDACTED] at the Department, outlining these facts to him and asking his advice as to the best method of obtaining the tapes and receipts.
---
I told SA [REDACTED] that we had obtained major case prints on MURPHY and would forward them to the Bureau today, together with his photograph, but in addition we were sending MURPHY's picture to Los Angeles to display it to [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] to insure that he is the individual photographed by [REDACTED]
---
I also told him we were in the process of reviewing the bank accounts of MURPHY and [REDACTED] establishing sp[illegible]tively what telephone calls were made from [REDACTED] to FLEMING [guess: sending] [guess: FLEMING] to [REDACTED]
