What does the scan show?
A person reads every report. Corrections are made by hand, to the data — titles, dates, names, which pages belong together — never to the scans, and they can take a while to appear.

RE: UNSUB: - SOURCE

On 4/24/72 [REDACTED] Division 6, called with respect to Seattle teletype to New York, Los Angeles and Bureau on 4/23/72. [REDACTED] aedvised that they feel at the Bureau that the key to the whole episode is with [REDACTED] and had numerous questions to ask about how [REDACTED] first got in touch with each other. It was explained to [REDACTED] that [REDACTED] had read a "D.B. COOPER ad" in the newspaper placed by KARL FLEMING which apparently was the basis for their contact.
---
[REDACTED] advised that the Director has said he "wants this thing solved" and further that authority has not yet been given by the Bureau to interview FLEMING at New York. He said the request has "gone up" but the decision has not been passed down to them.
---
[REDACTED] raised the question of why did the hijacker, already possessing $200,000 submit to being photographed and recorded for a mere $45,000. He was reminded that the whole thing appears to be a story by [REDACTED]
---
[REDACTED] then countered with how then do we explain the pictures of the money. He then said they had checked with the Laboratory and they report it would be extremely difficult to "phony up" a picture such as that.
---
[REDACTED] asked if the photos of the man in the black and white knit hat and on the street are being show[n] at Boeing since it appears from [REDACTED] that the guy probably did work at Boeing for a long period of time.
---
With respect to the manuscript [REDACTED] said that when [REDACTED] was recontacted, he said that all he meant with respect to immunity for the author was that [illegible]

only if the author had absolutely nothing to do with the crime itself but was merely writing about it that there probably would be a recommendation for no prosecution of misprison. He indicated he had no intention of granting immunity for someone involved in the hijacking.
---
Making reference to the mention of the manuscript of the hijacker stashing a car at LaCenter and also mentioning Woodland, Washington, he thought these pictures should be shown in those areas to see if we could identify the person in the pictures. I suggested that since we already have the possibility of unlocking this entire thing through the fact that [REDACTED] were having a confrontation this morning, refereed by two Bureau Agents, that the latter might furnish the solution. It was explained we had checked the Greyhound bus stop at Woodland which indicated there were no tickets sold on 11/24/71 but that SF, where all such records are maintained, has been asked to verify this.
---
[REDACTED] said our abovementioned teletype did not state that pictures of [REDACTED] were being sent to LA to determine from [REDACTED] if this is in fact the [REDACTED] who drove them around. [REDACTED] was advised that pictures had been sent to LA with that request.
---
In summation, [REDACTED] said, "put heat on it because it is hot back here."
