RECEIVED MAY 13 21 AM '72 OPERATIONS DIVISION U.S. MARSHALS SERVICE

Mr. Richard B. Kleindienst U.S. Attorney General [Operations Division / U.S. Marshals Service]

Sir: I wrote you May 8th regarding sky jacking of Northwest 727 on the run from Portland to Seattle the eve of Thanksgiving last. Today a Kansas City F.B.I. agent called me out (to [guess: ask] [guess: for] you [guess: how I] acted) I gave the agent the mans name, and other details, after he identified his self. I feel I should give you the facts too after the letter I wrote you. I have a crime pardner named [REDACTED - b6/b7C] [guess: wherever] we [guess: resided] anywhere [guess: he] gave the name D.B. Cooper. In [illegible] he approached me with the idea of sky jacking a 727 and him jumping [illegible] after the [illegible] was [guess: disbursed] to me. 169-81-3558 When this sky jacking took place with the same name being used I was convinced my pardner was free and [guess: had] [illegible] it [illegible] [REDACTED - b6/b7C] [guess: checked]

with the [guess: Madon] and I found my pardners was still there. I looked for any close friend he might have told the plan to. The FBI composit drawing looked like my pardner and I was stumped. Last week I bought a June Stag Magazine and beginning on page 12 was all I needed to [guess: figure] it out. It is my pardners [REDACTED] Clair Young who is 46 years old. No arrest record. Has been in business for himself (that I know of) since 1952. Married twice, nice home and in 1967 owned a restaurant at [guess: Richland] Washington. Always drives a Cadillac and Bowls in the money every year. Like everyone he seemed to always be short a few thousand dollars every so often. He has always enjoyed a good life style. Raised (Boxer dogs) one time, for Sale. If he got a [guess: great lot] of money I don't believe it would show, but from the composit drawing I would think the [guess: witness] could identify him easily. He has relatives living around Portland Ore. Hoping this helps [signature] 84333-132
