Re Seattle memo of SA [redacted], 8/4/72.
On 8/23/72, [redacted] Island County Sheriff's Office, Coupeville, Washington, advised that she could locate no record identifiable to [redacted] pointed out that she has talked with on several occasions in the last year. [redacted] appears to be emotionally stable and of sound mind. She has resided near [redacted] Washington, for approximately one year. [redacted] has heard that [redacted] will do almost anything for money. She is white female and approximately [redacted] years of age.

On 8/23/72, [redacted] was contacted at her residence at [redacted] Washington. [redacted] advised that on or about 6/24/72 she was watching Chronolog on Channel 5 and a program titled "The Children of God" was presented. The leader of the Children of God was presented as DAVID BERG and his photograph was shown several times throughout the program. The narrator mentioned that BERG has not been heard of for approximately 2 years and his whereabouts are unknown. She felt at the time that the photograph displayed of BERG was very similar to the com- posite photograph of the hijacker known as D. B. Cooper. She certainly could not state that the two photographs were identical but felt there were some facial similarities. She felt that BERG is approximately 35 years of age. She has never seen DAVID BERG in person. [redacted] believed the program was filmed in Texas and appeared on National tele- vision. [redacted] also pointed out that the initials of David Berg would be D. B. and she felt this might be significant.

Prior to departing the writer again asked [REDACTED] how certain she could be in that BERG and COOPER were identical. She indicated that prior to the television show that she had not seen a photograph of COOPER since it appeared in the newspaper. It would be difficult for her to make a positive statement unless she could compare the composite of COOPER with the photograph of BERG displayed on television.
