Re Kansas City letter to Seattle, 9/28/73.

The following investigation was conducted by SA KEITH A. LEWALLEN:

AT INDEPENDENCE, KANSAS

---

After an unsuccessful attempt on 10/24/73, [REDACTED] [REDACTED] was contacted on 11/27/73. [REDACTED] advised that she has resided at that address for 30 years and during that time saw subject BALDRIDGE "grow up", while residing at 412 West Maple, which is located [REDACTED] of her home. She stated that BALDRIDGE was definitely residing at 412 West Maple during November and December, 1971, though he was often away from home for periods of several days during the time he lived as an adult at 412 West Maple. [REDACTED] stated that though she was certain BALDRIDGE lived at 412 West Maple during November and December, 1971, she could not account for his whereabouts on any specific day during that time. She did not recall whether he was home for Thanksgiving, 1971. [REDACTED] pointed out that [REDACTED] and BALDRIDGE definitely was residing next door then. [REDACTED] stated she has not seen BALDRIDGE since he sold his residence and moved from Independence.

---

[REDACTED] described BALDRIDGE as over 6', well built, with brown, wavy hair, beginning to turn gray the last time she saw him. [REDACTED] was of the opinion that BALDRIDGE did not smoke, and did not know whether he drank.

She said she remembered his complexion medium, definitely not dark or olive.

Since it appears that BALDRIDGE was residing in Independence, Kansas, during the period of time captioned hijacking occurred, and since the description of BALDRIDGE offered by neighbors and acquaintances in the Independence area differs markedly from that of UNSUB, it is being left to the discretion of 00 whether to set out lead to have BALDRIDGE interviewed in Australia. No further investigation is being conducted by Kansas City concerning BALDRIDGE unless requested by 00.
