Re Denver letter to Butte, 12/27/74.
The following investigation was conducted by SA WILFORD T. BREEN:
AT IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO
On 1/6/75, [redacted] FRED AND WAYNES OK TIRE CENTER, 1900 North Yellowstone, advised that he recently purchased this business from FRED KARFORDT and [redacted] who do business on a wholesale level at 1960 North Yellowstone in Idaho Falls.
On 1/6/75, [redacted] and FRED KARFORDT, 1960 North Yellowstone, viewed the artist's concept of the skyjacker known as DAN COOPER without recognition. They noted they have never done business in downtown Idaho Falls and stated the only tire company that could possibly be identical with the one described as "OK TIRE COMPANY" by [redacted] would be the Idaho Falls Tire and Battery Company, 210 C Street.
On 1/6/75, MARK NELSON, manager, Idaho Falls Tire and Battery, 210 C Street, viewed the artist's conception of the skyjacker known as DAN COOPER. NELSON noted that his father is the owner of the store, but is on an extended cruise in the Caribbean area and will not be available for interview for several weeks. NELSON stated the drawing of the skyjacker known as DAN COOPER reminded him of a former employee by the [redacted] name of [redacted] who was employed, not by his store, but by FRED AND WAYNES OK TIRE CENTER on North Yellowstone.

Attempts were made to contact [REDACTED] and FRED KARFORDT on 1/10/75 and 1/17/75, and it was determined that both men were out of town on business trips and would not be available until late January, 1975.
On 1/28/75, FRED KARFORDT, 1960 North Yellowstone, advised he recalls a former employee by the name of [REDACTED] [REDACTED] as having worked for [REDACTED] and himself at the OK TIRE STORE [REDACTED] on North Yellowstone. He stated that in his opinion the artist's conception of the skyjacker known as DAN COOPER do not, in any way, resemble [REDACTED] except by a wide stretch of the imagination. KARFORDT stated that [REDACTED] resides at [REDACTED] in Firth, Idaho, and was last known to be employed [REDACTED] for the farm equipment dealer who sells International-Harvester equipment at Blackfoot, Idaho, possibly known as the BLACKFOOT EQUIPMENT COMPANY.
