A person reads every report. Corrections are made by hand, to the data — titles, dates, names, which pages belong together — never to the scans, and they can take a while to appear.

Enclosed for Sacramento Division is one (1) copy of a Seattle memo which will furnish background in this matter.
On September 19, 1975, after numerous attempts to contact KEN SMITH, he was contacted by SA THOMAS J. MANNING at Morton, Washington Police Department.
He stated that DON W. CLARK was a bookkeeper for a now bankrupt logging company at Morton, Co-Op Logging. CLARK, after the company went bankrupt, left the Morton area in October or November, 1971. He described him as follows:
---
Race White Sex Male Nationality American Height 5'11" - 6' Weight About 160 lbs. Eyes Brown Hair Thinning Complexion Olive Remarks Slight mustache
---
He stated that when CLARK was in the Morton area, he lived way beyond his means and was in Morton about three years. When the Co-Op Logging Company went bankrupt, the partners, [REDACTED] , moved to Inyokern, California where they started another logging

company (name unknown) about 1971. CLARK went with them as a bookkeeper while his family remained in Morton for a short period of time before going back to Argentina.
SMITH pointed out that CLARK would have been very familiar with logging roads in the Lewis and Cowlitz County, Washington area in view of his employment at Morton. He further pointed out that he has heard that the Inyokern, California company of [REDACTED] et al., has also gone bank- rupt and [REDACTED] is now in California. He further stated that [REDACTED] and to the best of his knowledge, took a plane from Portland, Oregon, flying to San Francisco and then to Argentina.
He could furnish no further information on the present location of CLARK, but stated he has viewed the composite drawing of DAN COOPER, which has been published several times in the Morton and Lewis County papers, and he feels that CLARK does in fact resemble COOPER.
