Re Kansas City letter to Seattle dated 4/16/76.
Enclosed for Los Angeles is one copy of an insert reflecting investigation at the Federal Records Center, Kansas City, Missouri.
For the information of Los Angeles, MERIT is being considered a suspect in captioned matter because [redacted] [redacted] (protect), advised MERIT approached him with a plan to hijack an airplane ransoming 70 to 80 passengers for a substantial amount of money.
[redacted] stated that he arrived at [redacted] and at the time he arrived, MERIT [redacted] stated MERIT was [redacted] sometime in 1971.

CAUSEY MERIT, 1536 or 1533 West Wardlow Road, Apartment 5, to determine MERIT's present whereabouts as well as possibly determine his location on 11/24/71. Will determine from Mrs. MERIT if she can provide any information as to the where- abouts of anyone who might be able to verify subject's loca- tion on that date and will attempt to obtain from her a photo- graph of her son taken just prior to 11/24/71 so that his appearance at that time can be noted.

Other leads to contact relatives and friends in the Los Angeles area whose names are contained in the enclosed insert are not being set out pending interview of subject's mother and further investigation and processing of MERIT as a suspect in this matter is being left to the discretion of the Los Angeles Office. Los Angeles is requested to forward all results to Seattle as soon as investigation is complete.
