[REDACTED BOX] [REDACTED BOX] Virginia, telephone [REDACTED BOX] (protect identity) advised that while in medical school at [REDACTED BOX] [REDACTED BOX] he became acquainted with an individual known to him as GRAHAM PALMER. [REDACTED BOX] indicated that he feels that PALMER may be identical with the subject of captioned case because he [REDACTED BOX] felt that PALMER had the right characteristics and qualifications for such a crime. He indicated that PALMER is physically capable of doing the strenuous things necessary in this type of a crime, had a personality disorder, had been a paratrooper during the Korean War, was a hunter and a marksman who may have worked in the State of Maine for either Remington or Winchester as a manufacturer's representative, spent some time as a guide in the Amazon jungle, skis well and is familiar with the Western states, having hunted in Colorado and resided in New Mexico.
---
[REDACTED BOX] went on to state that he felt that PALMER would have been hard up for money at the time and further characterized him as a smooth, cool customer. the artist's conception displayed to him by the Alexandria case Agent in this matter did not resemble PALMER to a great extent in that it was too clean cut and the coat and tie worn by the individual in the artist's conception was out of character for PALMER's usual dress.
[REDACTED] indicated that PALMER received his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia and subsequently practiced medicine in New Hampshire where he believes PALMER lost his license over some problem. He indicated that this caused him a severe financial hardship right around the time of the NORJAK hijacking.
[REDACTED] went on to state that PALMER had previously told him that he owned a small island in Canada on the St. Lawrence Seaway from which he use to run contraband into the United States. [REDACTED] indicated that PALMER was a close friend of PATRICK DREWERY, a professor of Psychology at The Medical College of Virginia and an individual named ROBERT LERZ who was an assistant Principal in the New York City school system in approximately 1968. He further indicated that PALMER writes to the City of London Philatelic Auctions, Limited, 170 Bishopsgate, London, England EC 2.
[REDACTED] concluded by advising that he has no idea of the current whereabouts of GRAHAM PALMER, stating that he last saw him in approximately 1968. He further indicated that he did not come forward with this information at an earlier time because he recalls having seen the artist's conception in the newspaper and feeling that the conception did not resemble PALMER closely enough. [REDACTED] indicated that he was furnishing this information at this time because he had discussed this matter with a supervisor from FBIHQ who had encouraged him to furnish this information to the Alexandria Division.
