Re Anchorage airtel dated 2/14/72.
On 2/28/72, [redacted], Nevada, advised SA [redacted] that he formerly served as [redacted] at Stead AFB, near Reno, Nevada, 1954 - 1957. He subsequently was employed as [redacted], Nevada. He explained that he had served as [redacted] while at Stead AFB but had never participated in anything involving the use of parachutes.
[redacted] advised later on that he had heard of this matter but had no information regarding the identity of person committing it. He had previously considered that the possibility existed that whoever was responsible for this hijack could have possible been a survival instructor. He recalled there were approximately 60 survival instructors at Stead AFB while he [redacted] was assigned there. He felt that the only former survival instructor from Stead AFB who had the capability of committing a similar hijack was one [redacted] did not recall [redacted] complete name other than [redacted] nor did he know his present address or place of employment. The last he had heard of [redacted] he was employed in [redacted] in Seattle, Washington. He had no particular reason to believe that [redacted] had been involved in this matter but based on his recollection of [redacted] he felt that [redacted] was the type of individual who could possibly commit a hijacking. He emphasized that the above conjecture was based only on a hunch and added that he had no current information regarding [redacted] present whereabouts or activities.
Investigation continuing.
