To: Northwest Airlines Inc. Sub: D.B. Cooper Gentlemen;
Last fall while hunting in the Sierra Mountains, I found a piece of parachute hidden under a log. I thought the chute may have been Coopers, so I gave it to the F.B.I. and they brought it back to me this spring, and said that it could be his chute, they couldn't tell. Since then, my wife and I have made several trips back up there, but it wasn't untill [guess: fully] July, that conditions were right that we could track him. We followed his trail for 2½ miles and found enough evidence to prove to us that it was Cooper, that he was badly injured and that he could not possibly have made it out to the nearest [guess: habitation] but I had to come home to work so

so we couldn't follow any further at that time.
Now we would like to find out if there is any reward for finding the money or Coopers remains. Frankly, we have spent a good deal of time and money tracking this fellow, and we can't afford to do anymore unless there is some payoff for finding him. I am certain that I can find him if conditions stay the same as they are now, but if too many many more club footed people, go through this area, rolling over rocks and logs, before we get back, it will be impossible to track him any further. Another hunting season is coming soon and after that it will be too late, for another year, so if you could answer soon we would be very grateful.
