AN AP RELEASE APPEARED ON NOV. 24TH IN OUR LOCAL PAPER WITH 1973 DRAWINGS FROM FBI FILES OF A MAN KNOWN AS "D.B. COOPER", WHO COLLECTED $200,000 FROM A BOEING 727 HE HIJACKED 11-24-73, THEN HE APPARENTLY PARACHUTED OUT OF THE PLANE OVER THE CASCADE MOUNTAINS OF SOUTHWESTERN WASHINGTON.

THE MANS PICTURE BEARS A STRIKING RESEMBLANCE TO [REDACTED] WHO SOLICITS DONATIONS BY MAIL FOR AN ORGANIZATION [REDACTED] AFTER A CONVERSION EXPERIENCE HE CLAIMS HAPPENED ON AN AIRPLANE. THE ORGANIZATION IS CALLED "FOOD FOR THE POOR, INC." INFORMATION ABOUT IT IS ON THE REVERSE SIDE OF THE ENCLOSED TWO SHEETS, ALONG WITH PARTS OF THE ARTICLE I SAW. [REDACTED] LITERATURE STATES THAT "FOOD FOR THE POOR" FUNDS MISSIONARIES, PARTICULARLY IN HAITI. [REDACTED] STATES IN HIS SOLICITATION MAIL THAT HE USED TO BE A BUSINESSMAN BUT HIS CONVERSION EXPERIENCE LED HIM TO DISAVOW MATERIALISM. [REDACTED] HAS BEEN THE SUBJECT OF A NUMBER OF ARTICLES IN RELIGIOUS PUBLICATIONS. A NON-RELIGIOUS, SECULAR ARTICLE IS ENCLOSED HERE. UNFORTUNATELY, I DID NOT SAVE THE ORIGINAL LITERATURE, WHICH COULD SHOW YOU THE RESEMBLANCE BETWEEN THE 1973 SKY JACKER AND [REDACTED] [REDACTED] BUT YOU CAN SEE THE RESEMBLANCE YOURSELF, IF YOU FOLLOW UP ON THIS LEAD. "FOOD FOR THE POOR" IS BASED IN DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA, I BELIEVE; ON LITERATURE THE RETURN ADDRESS IS [guess: TROM] THERE. SINCERELY [REDACTED]

FBI: Skyjacking case still

Tips on D.B. Cooper still trickling in after a qua

By GEORGE TIBBITS Associated Press Writer

SEATTLE -- It's been 25 years since he took that big step out of a Boeing 727 at 10,000 feet, yet tips on D.B. Cooper still trickle in. One of the most daring or dumbest criminals ever remains at large, having either flouted the laws of society or been foiled by the law of gravity. "It's still a pending investiga- tion," says Seattle-based FBI agent Ray Lauer, who adds that the case will stay open "probably forever." The FBI here still stores 60 vol- umes of interviews and other docu- ments telling how Cooper hijacked a jetliner, demanded and received $200,000, then jumped from the plane over the Cascade Mountains of southwestern Washington and into legend.

MEMO: COLUMN: Local Golf

TEXT: Too-putting while wondering what ever happened to Bob Impaglia...

It isn't often that the sport of the privileged becomes the province of the underprivileged. But just such a serendipitous meeting will occur Nov. 12 at Doral Resort and Country Club when the Pompano Beach-based charity Food for the Poor holds its benefit golf tournament.

This will not be just another charity tournament. Food for the Poor is one of the largest providers of charity goods and services to the island of Haiti. Because of the current U.N. naval embargo of that island, Food for the Poor is one of the few remaining lifelines for the impoverished residents of Port-Au-Prince and the outlying regions of Haiti.

"Food, medicine and medical supplies are exempt from the embargo. Money raised by the tournament will go toward purchasing those and other materials that can be shipped into Haiti after clearance from the State Department.

Ordinarily, we steer clear of endorsing charity events, but, given the current state of affairs in Haiti, this one is worthy of support. Ferdie Nahfood, founder and director of the relief organization, sees to it that any money raised by Food for the Poor finds its way into the hands of the people who need it. In the coming months, the people in Haiti will be needing more help than ever.
