UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT Memorandum

UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION

TO : SAC, SEATTLE (164-81)(P) DATE: 4/23/80

FROM : SA [REDACTED]

SUBJECT: NORJAK OO: Seattle

---

For information, on 2/20/80, [REDACTED], Vancouver, Washington, phone number [REDACTED], was contacted and she advised that [REDACTED] visited the Tena Bar area in Vancouver, near the location searched by the FBI for ransom money. [REDACTED] happened to find a corner of a $20.00 bill, and she would allow agents of the FBI to examine same.

On 2/20/80, [REDACTED], supra, and [REDACTED], were contacted at their residence, and [REDACTED] displayed a corner of a $20.00 bill which he found on the Tena Bar. He stated that he found this item sticking out of the sand near the area searched by the FBI. He provided the corner of the $20.00 bill to the writer to determine if in fact it is a portion of the ransom money.

---

ADMINISTRATIVE

The corner of the $20.00 bill provided by [REDACTED] in no way resembles the sections of money found during the search on Tena Bar. It is the opinion of the writer that this item was placed there as a practical joke. The section of the $20.00 bill provided by [REDACTED] has been placed in a 1A envelope for the file.
