Corporal [REDACTED], Oregon State Police (OSP), was telephonically contacted at his office and provided the following information:

On December 3, 1971, about 4 p.m., he recovered a parachute from a ponderosa pine tree on Rigdon Main Road about 25 miles south of Oakridge. The writing on the parachute indicated that it was a weather type parachute. The letters on the parachute were "RADIO-SONDE" with number F4-0096HR and indicated it was a weather type instrument package.
