Mr. YORK stated outright that he knew nothing concerning the hijacking other than what he had read in the newspapers and he had never been a paratrooper in the military nor had he ever had any experience of any kind as a parachutist. He added that he served in the United States Army during World War II in the 398th Engineers, 1st Battalion, Company A.

Mr. YORK specifically recalled his whereabouts on November 24, 1971 since this was the day before Thanksgiving and he had to go to the doctor's office in Olympia to see Doctor COKER concerning a leg injury. He stated that on or about November 20, 1971 while working at the Delson Lumber Company Mill he accidently struck himself in the thigh with a sledge hammer. He added that his leg was sore but did not really begin bothering him until the following Monday, November 22, 1971, and by November 24, 1971, he was having great difficulty walking and his leg was swollen. He stated that he had xrays but apparently did not have any broken bones.

Mr. YORK stated that he was in the doctor's office most of the morning until approximately 12:00 noon at which time he left the doctor's office, went to his home and gathered some belongings and along with his wife drove to Portland, Oregon, to visit his son, GARY ALLEN YORK, 1635 SW Battaglia Avenue, Gresham, Oregon.
