Miscellaneous

[REDACTED] Lieutenant Colonel Retired, USMC, [REDACTED] b6 Per BOC (Reference). -b7C Per BOC

I believe I first came in contact with [REDACTED] at the U.S. Marine b6 Per BOC Air Station in Japan in early 1965. I was Operations Officer and he b7C Per BOC

During our tour of duty in Japan I played some golf with him but had no social contact as he [REDACTED] However after his b6 Per BOC return to the United States in 1968 and my subsequent retirement we did have social contact and still played golf together until he left the area for the state of Washington at the end of last year.

[REDACTED] is an excellent man. His morals, character and habits are above b6 Per BOC reproach. He will take a social beer or so but does not drink to exc[ess]. b7C Per BOC He is very mature and stable. To my knowledge he has never had any trouble financially or with the law. He is certainly one who appears to enjoy excellent physical health.

I know nothing of his organizational affiliations. He is a loyal American beyond a doubt. I would recommend him for a position involving the security of our nation without the slightest hesitation.

He certainly had access to much information in the Marine Corps particularly when he was a tower chief and their controller. b6 Per BOC As [REDACTED] he had many and varied responsibilities. He had been in charge of one of our towers, had been assistant to the Operations Officer at El Toro and in Japan. He had been a Customs Officer at El Toro and responsible for the checking of thousands of persons who went through that base as a port of entry. It is true that most of the men were military personnel but on occasion it was also civilian employees and at times regular carriers had to put down there because El Toro was theonly landing field open to them. He has always performed well.

He gets along well with all sorts of people. He handles people well, military and civilian.

I feel he is a man who has demonstrated and ability to do a job well, make decisions properly and to my knowledge has never failed to react promptly in an emergency or critical situation. I would have no question about him "riding shotgun" on any plane I was in. I recommend him highly for any position with the Federal Government for which he is qualified.
