Employment

[redacted] United States Marine b6 Per BOC Corps, EL TORO AIR STATION. b7C Per BOC

---

I know [redacted] as a fellow sargeant on this base in Air Traffic Control for about two years prior to his retirement in October of 1970.

He came aboard in mid 1968 from an overseas assignment. We became rather friendly although not intimate. We worked together and fished together. I know that he was married for the second time but know of nothing which would reflect upon him as far as his marriages are concerned. His morals, character and habits appeared to be very good. He will take a rare beer or two but did not use intoxicants excessively or habitually. He was certainly a mature and stable individual and enjoyed excellent health.

---

I know nothing of his organizational affiliations. He is in my opinion a loyal American. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him for a position which might be considered critical from the standpoint of our national security.

---

He was a [redacted] in charge at this station for six or b6 Per BOC eight months when we were without a commissioned officer. He handled this job very well, and had no problems other than the "routine" problems that [redacted] and it's personnel. I would recommend him for any position with the Federal Government that he is qualified to fill. I feel that he would react properly under stress as he always has here. b6 Per BOC LIEUTENANT [redacted] El Toro Marine Air Station b7C Per BOC

---

I met [redacted] a sargeant in the United States Marine Corps in b6 Per BOC 1960 [redacted] I knew him for the next three yb7C Per BOC in Hawaii at another Marine Corps Air Station. He then went to the east coast and I again met him in the fall of 1966 in Vietnam where we were associated for several months. After Vietnam I had no contact with him until he came aboard this station in mid 1968. I know him from that time until he retired in October of 1970.

---

We did not have any great social contact but I did know his first wife as well as his current wife. He was divorced because he had a wife that kept him in constant debt. She was a most "miserable" person and he is much better off without her and with his current wife [redacted] would say b6 Per BOC morals, character and habits are very good. He does not use intoxicants b7C Per BOC excessively or habitually. I have never known him to be in any trouble with the law and in recent years certainly no financial difficulty.

He is mature, emotionally stable and in good physical health. To my knowledge he belongs to no organizations.

He is a loyal American. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him for a position which could be considered critical from a standpoint of our national security.

I found [REDACTED] to be a real asset on my staff. He was an excellent [REDACTED] [REDACTED] and also an excellent ground control approach man. He was calm, cool and possessed sound judgment. He is highly dependable and I could trust him with any assignment. He was [REDACTED] responsible Per BOC many times beyond that of our other [REDACTED]. He was b7C Per BOC also our customs officer and had again responsibilities that are not given to all of our [REDACTED] I believe him to be a most capable individual and with the proper training should be a credit to the federal agency employing him. I recommend him highly.

[REDACTED] Master Sergeant and Tower Chief, United States Marine Corps, El Toro Air Station (Reference). b6 Per BOC b7C Per BOC I met [REDACTED] in the late 1950's in South Carolina at a Marine Corps Station. I have known him as a fellow Marine since that time.

We did not always serve together, however we have spent several years together

---

I have had no contact with him since he left the Corps.

His morals, character and habits are of the highest caliber. He will take a social drink but does not drink excessively nor habitually. He is one of those rare individuals who does not seem to care whether or not he has one. He is a very mature and stable person and enjoys excellent health.

I know nothing of any organizational affiliations. I believe him to be a completely loyal American. I recommend him without hesitation for a position that could be considered critical from the security standpoint.

[REDACTED] has always done his job well within the Corps. He has faced many problems [REDACTED] and to my knowledge has always made the proper decisions. He has been [REDACTED] and while his solutions to problems in the tower and with personnel might not be mine, I can say he always came up with a workable solution. b6 Per BOC b7C Per BOC

I feel he would be an asset to the [REDACTED] as he is aware b6 Per BOC pilot problems, he knows aircraft and their limitations. I would therefore recommend him highly.

[REDACTED] Retired USMC, 3021 Willits, Santa Ana, California. b6 Per BOC b7C Per BOC

I have known [REDACTED] for at least three years. We served together in the United States Marine Corps.

I really got to know him in 1966 or 1967 at [REDACTED] where he w b6 Per BOC an [REDACTED] and ground control approach officer. I met him again and knew him rather well at [REDACTED]. I was a flight engineer and certainly knew how he operated in the tower and on the ground.

As a person I would have absolutely no question of his morals, character or habits. He did not use intoxicants to my knowledge and was never in any sort of trouble. He was certainly mature, stable and enjoyed excellent health.

I knew nothing of his organizational affiliations. I would believe him to be a completely loyal American. I would recommend him without hesitation for a position involving the security of our nation.

In his career in the United States Marine Corps he had done many things. He was a customs officer for some period of time and was responsible for the checking of thousands of Marines, Navy personnel and so forth as they came in from overseas. He related to them all very well.

I feel also that he was a man who is of sound judgment, can size up a situation and make a proer decision. I say this because he had to do so many times in the tower and even more so when he was directing aircraft in a ground control approach. I would feel that I was in good hands if he were in charge of the plane on which I was riding as I had no qualms about flying in on his directions.

I recommend him highly for a position with our Customs Department, as a [REDACTED] and also for any Federal position for which he is qualifie b6 Per BOC d. Per BOC

b6 Per BOC b7C Per BOC I knew [REDACTED] all the time he lived in the military housing next door.

for some period of time. He came here from overseas in the summer of 1968 and he retired after twenty years of service, I believe, in October of 1970.

His morals, character and habits were certainly very good. To my knowledge he did not drink and was never in any sort of trouble. He was certainly mature and stable.

I knew nothing of any organizational affiliations. He is in my opinion a loyal American and I would recommend him for a position involving the security of our country.

I know little of his qualifications for a job with the Federal Government but he was in Air Traffic Control here and as far as I am concerned was a calm, quiet and solid sort of person. I would recommend him for any Federal position for which he is trained or qualified.

---

[REDACTED] b6 Per BOC b7C Per BOC I moved in here in December of 1968. At that time [REDACTED] and his wife were residing at [REDACTED]

He was a Marine as are all the tenants of this project. He retired in October of 1970 after twenty years and left the area. We were not close friends but we were neighborly. I would say his morals, character and habits were very good. He was a very good husband and father.

To my knowledge he did not drink. I have never known of him to be in any trouble, financially or with the law. He was certainly mature, stable and appeared to enjoy excellent health. I know nothing of his organizational affiliations and the only associates I would know of course were fellow Marines. He is in my opinion a loyal American. I would recommend him for a position considered critical from the standpoint of our national security.

He was a clam, quiet man. He never seemed to be rattled or "up tight". I believe he would be a good employee of the United States Government and I am sure if he qualified for the job I would recommend him highly.

Miscellaneous

[REDACTED] Lieutenant Colonel Retired, USMC, [REDACTED] b6 Per BOC (Reference). -b7C Per BOC

I believe I first came in contact with [REDACTED] at the U.S. Marine b6 Per BOC Air Station in Japan in early 1965. I was Operations Officer and he b7C Per BOC

During our tour of duty in Japan I played some golf with him but had no social contact as he [REDACTED] However after his b6 Per BOC return to the United States in 1968 and my subsequent retirement we did have social contact and still played golf together until he left the area for the state of Washington at the end of last year.

[REDACTED] is an excellent man. His morals, character and habits are above b6 Per BOC reproach. He will take a social beer or so but does not drink to exc[ess]. b7C Per BOC He is very mature and stable. To my knowledge he has never had any trouble financially or with the law. He is certainly one who appears to enjoy excellent physical health.

I know nothing of his organizational affiliations. He is a loyal American beyond a doubt. I would recommend him for a position involving the security of our nation without the slightest hesitation.

He certainly had access to much information in the Marine Corps particularly when he was a tower chief and their controller. b6 Per BOC As [REDACTED] he had many and varied responsibilities. He had been in charge of one of our towers, had been assistant to the Operations Officer at El Toro and in Japan. He had been a Customs Officer at El Toro and responsible for the checking of thousands of persons who went through that base as a port of entry. It is true that most of the men were military personnel but on occasion it was also civilian employees and at times regular carriers had to put down there because El Toro was theonly landing field open to them. He has always performed well.

He gets along well with all sorts of people. He handles people well, military and civilian.

I feel he is a man who has demonstrated and ability to do a job well, make decisions properly and to my knowledge has never failed to react promptly in an emergency or critical situation. I would have no question about him "riding shotgun" on any plane I was in. I recommend him highly for any position with the Federal Government for which he is qualified.
