that time. [REDACTED] himself was a career military man serving in b6 Per BOC the Marines up until November of 1970 and he returned to this area on b7C Per BOC occasionally. Since November of 1970, he has lived with his parents and has been trying to find employment, however, because of the general economic conditions and lack of work in the area, he has not obtained a permanent job or has not done any temporary work to my knowledge.
---
[REDACTED] impresses me as being a person who is sincerely interested in oth b6 Per BOC people. I am an older woman and [REDACTED] because he was not working, help 7C Per BOC me put up my Christmas lights on the outside of the house. He has also offered to help me do other things if I needed him and he seems to be very willing to be of assistance. He seems to be a rather easy-going person who is mature and emotionally stable. I have never seen him use any alcoholic beverages. He does not seem to be the type of individual who would need any personality supplements in the way of drugs, narcotics, or LSD. I believe that he would be decisive in a critical or stress situation and be able to handle any emergency that arose. I think his judgment is sound and he is mature enough to make logical independent conclusions to any problem that arose. However, I have had no close association with him because of his extended military service and up until November of 1970, had only seen him casually. As I understand it, he has progressed in responsible positions in the military but any know- ledge I have of this is by secondhand information and would only be hearsay.
---
My general impression of [REDACTED] is that he would deal effectively b6 Per BOC with people on all levels. He has had military service so I am sure b7C Per BOC he would be able to use regulations connected with any job he was assigned to, be able to follow instructions and to interpret them correctly. When I have talked to him out in the yard and when he has come over to my house to offer his help, he has always presented his viewpoints clearly and concisely.
---
It is my understanding that he has applied for a sensitive position with the Government. I feel that knowing specific examples of his experience, resourcefulness, good judgment, and ability to use tact and discretion in whatever his job was in could not be known by me because of my limited knowledge about him. However, generally he impresses me as being a very fine person, quite levelheaded and somewhat of a fine American citizen because of his military background. On this basis only would I recommend him for a position within our Federal Government in a very sensitive and critical area.

b6 Per BOC b7C Per BOC I have known [REDACTED] from approximately November of 1970 to the present. His parents live across the street from me and one house north of us. My association with him has been very casual. [REDACTED] as he is known

to me and everyone else in the neighborhood has visited his family two or three times in the last five or six years. He visited them only this often because he is a Marine who I understand has retired from the military service and now wants to begin a new career. My association with him has been as a casual neighbor and I talk to him when ever I see him. He asked me one time if I could put points in his stationwagon but I recommended that he go to a garage.
[REDACTED] is a friendly person to talk to and he seems mature. Because of h b6 Per BOC experience as a Marine, I am sure that he has had to adjust to many b7C Per BOC situations of which I am not aware. However, because he gives me a sense of well being and confidence in his ability to handle emergency and stress situations without becoming emotionally upset, I would trust his judgment. To my knowledge, he gets along well with everyone he comes into contact with although my contact has been very limited and casual. I know of nothing unfavorable regarding his personal habits, attitudes, regarding our culture or Government. I have no reason to question his loyalty at all to our Government. However, because my knowledge of him has been so casual, I have not really been a close personal confident of [REDACTED] I do not feel that I can offer any specific information or recommendation on his ability to handle emergency situations or his ability to progress in his job situation. I have also never had an opportunity to test his judgment, tact, or discretion. I do not feel that I could comment on his ability to write or give reports. I could recommend him on a general basis for a sensitive situation within our Government because he has done nothing of an unfavorable nature nor did he have any undesirable habits to my knowledge.
---
I know the [REDACTED] family who live next door to me. However, I do not b6 Per BOC [REDACTED] because he has been away in the military and j b7C Per BOC recently retired. I have seen him a couple of times since his retirement at the end of 1970 to the present but I have not said anything to him nor have I had any contact at all on any level with him.
---
The family seems to be a very stable one and the children, [REDACTED] as well b6 Per BOC his brother and sister, seem to be responsible people as I have never b7C Per BOC anything unfavorable regarding their conduct, attitudes, or behavior. However, because my knowledge is so casual of him, I know of nothing at all about his personal habits or attitudes, I do not feel qualified to recommend him for any position.
