On 7/10/73, [REDACTED] WKRG-TV, [guess: A] [illegible] Mobile, Alabama, made available a copy of a tape, which is enclosed, made by [REDACTED] the interview of an unidentified individual whom [REDACTED] described as a "psychic." According to [REDACTED] this woman desires to remain anonymous but that she has assisted [REDACTED] in locating other individuals over a period of the last few months. He attributes the location of a missing person to her psychic powers. She was interviewed concerning captioned matter and the inter- view was recorded on tape.
Mobile has reviewed this tape and she states that she feels vibrations indicating that the subject is hanging in the top of a large tree of the pine family. The tree is located on top of a mountain, possibly called Green Mountain, located near a community called Bates, which she spells. In the valley is a small stream which flows in a south- easterly direction into a larger stream or river. Subject and his confederates, who were apparently waiting to meet him, had anticipated using a boat to follow the smaller stream into the larger one. Subject's body is completely decomposed and entangled in strings and wires. He lived three or four days after his hijacking and eventually died of a heart attack.

She states that he is in the area because the plane was off course and in a different position from what he anti- cipated. He has accomplices, one of whom she named as an and currently part of a hunting party which is attempting to locate subject and the money. She states that D.B. COOPER is not subject's real name and, upon viewing a photograph, stated that his eyes are closer together and his eyebrows are heavier especially the first quarter of them from the nose. She described him as a smart imaginative individual who could not coordinate his activities and one with a dual personality though not a killer. She describes him further as having a deep authoritative voice. He has a note on his body impli- cating other individuals, including an airline official, which he wrote before he boarded the plane.

When asked specifically what she "saw" in the area, she states she remembers the color orange, which may be a cloth, and deep green foilage with tall mountain peaks with snow on them in the distance. She states the money is in packets, some of which have been loosened and are lying in the surrounding area. Other money is bound in bands approxi- mately 1½" wide. There is a case like an attache case or a small suitcase which is broken open lying on the ground under the body. The money in the suitcase still is all right.

She further states that she "sees" on the side of the mountain near the deep valley a bright orange color, maybe like a bright dye, and continues to see the deteriorated body in the trees entangled in lines. The surrounding area is a verdant green with trees like redwoods or heavy massive pines. There has been no one in the area since the body arrived although her vibrations say they are getting closer to it. Daily they are getting closer and closer.

Mobile makes no claim as to the prognostications of this unidentified psychic. It is noted that the map of the state of Oregon shows a Bates, Oregon, near the Blue Mountain Pass on Highway 26. The Postal Guide also indicates that there is a Bates, Arizona.
